If you choose to participate in the competition and have your entry judged, please read all the rules carefully and choose the category you wish to enter.
Theme and Design
The theme for 2009 is "Hope Has Wings". Design your block interpreting this theme. Margie’s Quilts of Hope supports Australian copyright laws and encourages original works. Please respect the works of others and ask their permission before using their designs or patterns and acknowledge them on your entry form.
All entries become the property of Margie’s Quilts of Hope. By signing your entry form you give Margie’s Quilts of Hope the right to photograph or permit to be photographed and publish in any form any and all items you submit to Margie’s Quilts of Hope.
Fabric
All fabrics used in this challenge for your quilt top or block must be Northcott fabrics.
Any Northcutt fabric can be used in your block or quilt. Use of fabrics other than Northcutt will automatically disqualify the entry from judging. To qualify for judging, at least 50% of the fabric from this kit must be used in the top layer of your entry.Backing fabric does not have to be Northcott fabric.
If the reverse side of a fabric is used or tiny pieces, ruching, gathering, heavy stitching, texturing or heavy painting techniques make it difficult to identify the fabric as Northcott, then a sample of the fabric must be attached to the entry form.
Northcott Quest For A Cure Fabric
Northcott Silk Inc., Canada through their Australian distributors, Lloyd Curzon Textiles, has donated the fabrics and Lloyd Curzon has donated the fabric for this FREE starter kit.
When you purchase any of the Quest for a Cure fabrics, either for the challenge or for your personal use, a percentage of the sales go towards breast cancer research in Australia. Please support their generosity by purchasing Quest For A Cure fabrics.
Size
Your entry must comply with the size stipulations of the category you have chosen to enter. If the entry is larger than or smaller than the designated sizes, the entry will be disqualified.
Techniques
Refer to the category you have chosen to enter for the acceptable techniques for that category. Work on the entry including piecing, appliqué, embellishing, quilting, and / or binding, must be solely that of the entrant (except in the group categories). Any child’s entry must be solely the work of the child.
