Many years ago I was teaching for the QLD Arts Council and was asked to go to a very isolated cattle station in the Northern Territory where Narelle and her family lived. The women travelled for 100's of km to attend the class and brought their children. While the governess' helped the children with their School of the Air lessons the mothers learnt how to make quilts. A lot of friendships were made and continued to grow on my many visits back to those women . Narelle and her husband had three gorgeous sons at the time and after some years had past I got a phone call from Narelle to say they had had an oops!! Asking what she meant, I was told they were going to have another baby. As they lived so far from a hospital she came and lived with us for some weeks to await the arrival of the baby. I was very privileged to be there for the birth of their precious baby daughter Zoe and Rob and I also had the honour of becoming her Godparents.

Zoe is now 13 and we caught up with the family last week as we were travelling. She just loves her horse and was competing in their local Camp Draft, It was fantastic to see her ride and to have time with her and her parents, Narelle and Gavin.
