Both woman and men can help take the fight to breast and prostate cancer when Margie's Quilts of Hope arrive in Hervey Bay during the 'Big Weekend' of 10 and 11 September 2011.
Ladies and gentlemen are invited to decorate and enter a pair of boxers or jocks and/or socks to be displayed right alongside a special exhibition of Margie's Quilts of Hope.
Anyone can obtain a free kit, which contains several pieces of cloth and other things that can be used to decorate these items of apparel.
Visitors then donate a gold coin when they vote for their favourite decorative pair. This money, along with the $5 competition entry fee, is donated to Rotary Health's breast and prostate cancer research.
You can get your free kit by contacting Karen Canning, either by email at canningfamily@bigpond.com or by phone on 0418 796 012. You can also send a request by mail to her at 11 Lygon Court Urraween Qld 4655.
The 'Big Weekend' is put on each year by the combined efforts of Hervey Bay Rotary clubs and all proceeds are donated to a local cause.
