Jandowae Arts & Craft Day

With the Jandowae Cottage Craft Group hosting a Leukaemia Foundation Fundraiser on Wed 8 July and Thurs 9 July 2009, it's a great time to see what "our country cousins" have been creating.

The special Jandowae Arts & Craft Day will feature a Quilt & Craft Display, Minature Quilt Challenge and Decorated Shoulder Pad Competition. Also planned are local craft stalls, including woodwork and jewellery, and a Bring & Buy Stall.

With the first prize a Patchwork Quilt you'll want to get some tickets on the raffle. There's a Devonshire morning tea, light lunches and afternoon tea available.

Jandowae Arts & Craft Day

The peaceful little country town of Jandowae is located in the Wambo Shire of Queensland. Situated on highway 82, it's 48 km north of Dalby, en route to Mundubbera.

While in Jandowae you can check out the the Dingo Barrier Fence display, and visit historic Athlone Cottage, the Boomerang Factory and Jandowae Dam.

Biloela Quilters Gathering

The Annual Quilters Gathering is on again!

A grand time was had by all the attendees of last years Quilters Gathering held in Cabarlah. This year the event is hosted by the Biloela Quilters on Saturday 20 June. Biloela's a friendly country town located 120km inland from Gladstone in Central Queensland.

Guest Speakers
With the doors opening at 9.30 am it's sure to be a fabulous day. Quilters will be treated to two entertaining talks by the guest speakers - Ruth Bloomfield and our very own, Pauline Rogers. As one of our DVD presenter's we could possibly lay claim to Ruth also! One thing is sure - both these ladies are knowledgeable and fun, so you're guaranteed to have a good time and will probably learn something very handy.

Ruth Bloomfield
Ruth has just had a quilt accepted for exhibition at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. In 2007 Ruth not only exhibited at Houston, but her quilt was choosen as a finalist. She'll tell you about her visits to the Houston Quilt Festival, and share with you her wonderful work and unique techniques.

Pauline Rogers
Pauline's extensive knowledge of patchwork and quilting covers nearly every facet of the craft. She'll show you how tools can help you achieve better results while using your time more efficiently, what tools are essential and which ones are just nice to own!

The Biloela Quilters have busy planning a great day . You'll surely want a raffle ticket on their exquisite quilt.

A Fun-Filled Day
There will also be a quilt display put on by the Biloela Quilters Group, Show & Tell (so bring your own quilts), a delicious morning tea and sit-down lunch, opportunity for some retail therapy, plus chances to win some fabulous prizes.

The gathering runs until 3.00 pm at the Biloela Civic Centre, so come along for a day of fun. It's a great time to catch up with your quilting friends and meet other like minded ladies for a good gossip! You may even win a prize.

Quilters Gathering - Don't miss out - Book Now!

The annual Quilters Gathering is almost here - join us for a day in the country on Saturday 4th October from 10.30am to 3.30pm at the Cabarlah Hall, on the New England Highway at Cabarlah, just 18 kms north of Toowoomba.  You will be able to share in the secrets of our two special guest speakers.  Well known quilt and handbag designer, Monica Poole of Moonshine Designs and expert machine quilter and tutor, Donna Ward from New Zealand.

As  well as being entertained by our two exciting speakers there will be lucky door prizes, cent auction, demonstrations, quilt display and 'surprise entertainment'.  A scrumptious morning tea will be served before the fun begins and you will enjoy a sit down lunch.  Every attendee will receive a gorgeous gift bag.

The day after the Quilters Gathering, Monica and Donna will each be holding a workshop at the Carbalah Hall. You can do the Trendy Technique class with Monica or Fearless Free Motion Quilting class with Donna. These great workshops are $75.00 for the day.

Early bird special - the first 30 customers who book for the Gathering and one workshop will each receive a $25 voucher to spend on fabric or tools on the weekend.

Fun on the Quilters Trail

At 6 pm Wednesday April 9th the bus departed Quilters World. A delicious cold dinner was served en route by Pauline who even managed to serve wine. That's no mean feat on a smallish bus travelling quite fast along Queensland roads!! The group stayed overnight at Noosa North Shore resort, complete with kangaroos hopping around in the morning and parrots feasting on the remains of our breakfasts! Then it was off to the first shop for some retail therapy.

We visited Cooroy Drapery and Totally Patchwork at Palmwoods which were both darling little shops stuffed full of delightful surprises for quilters. Then it was on to Caboolture Sewing Machine Centre and Quilt Essentials at Eatons Hill for more spending, Patches at Indooroopilly and finally Sew Creative at Gatton - whew what a feast we all had.

We arrived back in Toowoomba by about 6.00pm so had been away for 24 hours of fun and laughter and lots of spending. Along the way we learned how to make some great fabric flowers, as the theme for the Quilters Trail was In the Garden, and we all had these great big flowers as name tags, including Col our long suffering bus driver!! Lots of prizes were given away during the trip and there will be even more prizes on offer at the Quilters Muster on the 18th May for all the Quilt Trailers.

Quilters Trail 2008

Join in the merriment and friendship - gather a group of friends and set out on a journey to seven of the best southeast Queensland quilt shops.

From April 1st to 30th each shop will be on the lookout for travellers— carrying your special passport will ensure you receive the VIP treatment.

You need to arrange a passport so you’ll be ready to go come April. Passports will be available after the 15th of March at the participating shops. You have until the end of April to complete your tour of all seven shops. At each shop when you make a purchase you get your Passport stamped and collect your FREE GIFT.

Once you’ve finished the Quilters Trail and collected all the passport stamps you’ll be entered into the prize draw—With prizes worth thousands of $ and more.There’s always plenty of fun and surprises to be had on the Quilters Trail.

For even more fun—As a participant you’re invited to the Quilters Muster on 18th of May in Morayfield.

 

Quilters World Garden Party

After mother nature rained on our Christmas Party we requested that she hold off on the rain for our Garden Party as it just wouldn't be a Garden Party if we held it indoors.

We're happy to report that there wasn't a cloud in the sky. However ... along with all the bright sunshine, we received a hot gusty wind. Maybe not ideal for a Garden Party, but a social gathering with a group of quilters always makes for a lovely time, despite the weather. 

       

The menu consisted of delicious finger sandwiches, luscious pink cupcakes, scones with jam and cream, yummy cakes, exquisite tea and tasty punch.  The guests added to the scene with splendid hats and frocks and their china tea cups.

                   

Along with information on the Quilters Trail & the Trail Bus Trip, and the upcoming Retreats and Workshops, Pauline unveiled an amazing assortment of new products.

There were new fabric ranges - Willowberry Winter Romance Flannels by Maywood Studios,  Strawberry Lemonade (Moda), Climbing Jacobs Ladder by Barbara Brackman (Moda) and Cottage Charm (Clothworks),  charming Block of the Month patterns, the darlingTeddywinks Quilt Patterns and Bag Ladies Tea.

         

To top off the afternoon the shop was opened for some retail therapy. Some ladies had started to wilt outside but were quickly refreshed with the combination of air-conditioning, bag lady reward points and a store full of heavenly fabric.

The 2008 Quilters Trail & our new Quilter Retreats You'll be indulged in delicious refreshments while we tell all the gossip about this year's Quilters Trail including the theme, how to get a passport for the trip and your transportation options (rumour is that Pauline  might organise a bus to take you in style).  We're even going to divulge all the exciting details of the upcoming Quilting Retreats. Have you been dreaming of a weekend with no cooking or cleaning, just sewing to your heart's delight? It's possible and we're going to share the how, when and where. We'll even be revealing the names of the guest tutors that are scheduled. If you want to be "in the know"

Quilters World Graduation 2007

We had a fabulous evening at our Christmas Party with many of the girls who have attended classes with us coming along to share in the festivities.  We were treated to a lovely show and tell of quilts made during the year, some finished and some which are still being worked on. 

Pauline was pleased to award diplomas for the achievements and participation of our students for 2007. 

Congratulations to all our students who attended the Christmas Party and received their diplomas for their achievements.  Those who did not manage to get along will be presented with a certificate during the year.

Don't forget our class release on January 25 2008 at 6.30pm - come along and see all the exciting classes we have planned for you at our special Australia Day Party.  You will also be able to view all the new class samples whilst you partake of a special Aussie BBQ. See you there...........          

Christmas Party at Quilters World

We welcomed many of our friends who joined us for a special year-end holiday get together and to farewell Kim who has left to join her husband Mick at the mine at Blackwater.

Patty McCormick and her helper Sarah spent the afternoon making the carpark look very festive with lights and tinsel and a row of six white boomers complete with lights and Santa bringing up the rear.

Everyone brought along some yummy treats to share and the table was groaning with food. However the skies were becoming darker and not just because the night was closing in.

Just as we all settled down with a plate of food to listen to Pauline start the evening's proceedings, the rain began and we all had to move into the classroom and the shop. However the rain didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm and the evening continued with much enjoyment.

Pauline presented the girls who had attended classes at Quilters World throughout the year with their diplomas and then we were treated to a show and tell of some beautiful quilts made by our students

There was plenty of hilarity when Kim was dressed in her uniform for her new life at the mines! Pauline and Gerry were helped in this task by Santa's Little Helper (aka Robbie) and our Naughty but Nice girl Patty.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the evening to wish Kim a fond farewell. We invite you all to drop by our store and check out the Six White Boomers on the side fence. Between now and Christmas we hope that these roos will be dressed according to their names.
